Bass, Anderson win round one in battle for King of the Glades

For the past decade, south Florida anglers have battled each other for the King’s crown. One day removed from the BFL Gator division’s season opening tournament, 95 teams of anglers went back out to the battlefield that is Lake Okeechobee for the start of the 10th season for the King of the Glades.

Donny Bass and Dave Anderson would prove to be the victors of the first of the five round fight. Bass and Anderson set a 25.45-pound, five-bass limit on the scales to win the $1,800.00 first place prize.

Their bag was just enough to edge out the second place team of Rene Gonzalez and Scott Crisafulli. The runner-up finishers weighed a 25.32-pound bag to win $900.00.

Scott Stanton and Jim Vines finished the day in fourth place with 22.07 pounds, winning $390.00, followed by Ronnie Buck and Ron Buck in fifth place with 22.07 pounds. The Buck’s earned $240.00 for their finish.

The top three teams from each event earn an automatic birth to the King of the Glades championship being held on June 5th, at a location to be named the day before the event.

Round two for KOTG10 is set for February 7th at Holiday Park.
