Fisher, Nelson take win at Fishers of Men Harris Chain event

Anglers across the state were greeted with steady, strong winds this weekend, and not many bodies of water take on the washing machine effect like the Harris Chain does when a hard wind pushes through. But the windy conditions wouldn’t stop Donald Fisher and Brian Nelson from winning the Florida Central division of the Fishers of Men: Stren Team Series event on Saturday.

Fisher and Nelson topped the 15 team field with a solid 19.54-pound, five-bass limit. They anchored their bag with the event’s Big Bass, a 5.60-pound kicker, helping to push their margin of victory to more than 6 pounds.

John Myers III and John Myers, Jr. grabbed the runner-up spot with an 13.48-pound, five-bass limit. Mike Robinson and Jeff Robinson finished in third place with an 11.96-pound, five-bass bag. They were followed by John Brazzell and Josh Davis in fourth place with 11.64 pounds. Dan Smith and Jeremy Smith rounded out the top five with 10.78 pounds.

With one event to go, Myers III and Myers, Jr. sit atop the Team of the Year standings with 797 points, but Dan and Jeremy Smith trail only by 3 points in second place. Ken Lucas and Daniel Lanier sit in third place with 784 points.

The Fishers of Men Florida Central division’s next and final event for the season will take place on May 14th at Lake Kissimmee, launching from Camp Mack’s River Resort. For more information, visit their web page, or follow them on Facebook.
