Nobles and Craven come from behind to take the win

Day 2 found JD Nobles and Kyle Craven coming from behind to take the win in the first tour stop of 2014 taking place in Jacksonville, FL.

Weighing in a total weight of 26.78 over the 2 days on a 4 fish total shows that it didn’t take a lot of weight for the win, but it did take consistent weight.

JD and Kyle did a great job catching, caring for and then releasing their fish after they were weighed and netted $5,000.00 for their 2 days of efforts and expertise.

The winning team brought in the winning fish as part of the 71 total fish weighed this weekend, presented by 20 of the 22 teams that competed.

The total weight of 365.55 pounds was a big light from what the anglers expected from their fishery with the good reports of 14 and 15 pound limits caught during practice.

In second place Team Ranger’s Adam Loud and Patrick Stoughton made the wise decision to enter the Academy Big Bag side entry and won an bonus check of $1,500.00 for having the single heaviest 2 fish limit of the tournament.

Third place found team Seeker Rods placing 23.54 pounds (just 20/100′s of a pound out from moving in to 2nd place) on the fully automated scales of The Redfish Series and taking home $1,500.00 for their catch.

The top 5 rounds out with Danny Sheldon and Wil Smith, Team Florida Outdoors Experience landing in 4th place with 22.97 pounds while the 5th and final spot in the top 5 went to Team Ironman Outdoor’s Greg King and Joshua Burley with 22.78, slipping just a bit after a good day 1 found them leading all anglers.

All in all it was a terrific weekend from the captain’s meeting held at The Sand Dollar Restaurant, that kicked off the event, till the final pack up of the gear was completed at the weigh in host facility, Morningstar Marinas.

A special thank you to all the anglers who competed hard, fairly and professionally in adverse conditions to bring in and release 100% of all fish weighed. Also a big thank you to the families of the anglers that allow them to compete and support their husbands, brothers, sons, daughters while they pursue the sometimes elusive, but always fun, perfect 2 redfish the waters of Jacksonville had to offer.

The final thank you has to go to the local and best redfish club in the country, The Florida Lure Anglers did a great job getting the word out and supporting this series and for that, we say thank you to each of their members and leadership.

It was a great weekend and we hope everyone enjoyed being a part of it with The Redfish Series, next up, February 14-15 the tour lands in Titusville, FL with the 2nd tour stop in the east division and until then we hope to see you somewhere soon, either on the water or on the web. ~The Crew

Day 1 is in the books and was easily the best weigh in, perhaps, in the history of The Redfish Series. The operation was smooth, professional and flawless. From the time the anglers hit the Fibertex staging tanks till they left the stage, the anglers and their catch were handled with extreme care and professionalism.

Lead after day 1 is team Ironman Outdoors, Greg King and Joshua Burley who jetted to their first spot at over 80 mph in their bullet bass boat powered by a strong Mercury 250 outboard. 14.18 pounds is their weight but failing to get in the big bag side pot may cost them 1250.00 if their weight holds up as big limit of the weekend.

Second place is local, JD Nobles and Kyle Craven representing Florida Lure Anglers, the largest inshore tournament club in the state of Florida, JD and Kyle weighed in 13.98 pounds and also failed to get in the big bag side pot.

Finally in 3rd place with 13.43 is team Ranger, Adam Loud and Patrick Stoughton and this team did get in the big bag side event and lead it after day 1. Adam and Patrick did a great job and are looking to moving up into one of the top spots at the final day’s weigh in.

Anglers will launch Saturday morning and will probably do so amidst storms, high wind and fog but will not be released until the conditions are deemed safe. Weigh in will take place again Saturday at 3:00 pm or may be adjusted due to the weather conditions as day 2′s final weigh in approaches.
