Ritchey Wins IFA Kayak, Birth to Hobie World Championship

The IFA Kayak Tour presented by Hobie hosted it’s final event of the 2014 season for the Florida East division, Sunday June 22nd in Jacksonville, FL. This event in particular had a little extra incentive for the winner, as this event was selected as a qualifying event for the 2014 Hobie Fishing Worlds Championship that is scheduled to be held in Amsterdam October 5th-11th.

With a chance to compete against the world’s best, Justin Ritchey was able to catch a 36.00-inch redfish and a 25.00-inch trout, giving him a total score of 61.00, to triumph over the field of 59 anglers. Not only did Ritchey take home $2,439.00 in prize money, he also received that invitation to compete with Team USA in the 2014 Hobie Fishing Worlds Championship.

John Chapman caught a 44.00-inch redfish and a 15.00-inch trout, giving Chapman a score of 59.00 and 2nd place. For the runner-up spot, Chapman won $1000.00, but also received an additional $726.00 in incentive money.

Rounding out the top 3 was Justin Carter. His 35.50-inch redfish and 22.00-inch trout gave him a total score of 57.50. Carter won $858.00 for 3rd place, with incentives.
