Sylvester, Birkheimer win first KBS Seniors tournament

The Kissimmee Bass Series has added another avenue for anglers to compete in at Lake Kissimmee to accompany their team trail and one man events, but there’s a catch. Competing anglers must be at least 55 years old. The KBS kicked off their first Senior’s Trail event on Friday November, 13th at Camp Mack.

Frank Sylvester and Edwin Birkheimer broke the 20-pound mark with a five-bass limit weighing 22.90 pounds. The duo anchored their bag with the day’s big bass, a 7.70-pound lunker.

Charlie Wynperl and Billy Atkins’ day didn’t go quite as planned, they broke down early in the day and had to fish their way back to the ramp. However, 19.40-pound, five-bass limit and a second place finish made up for the motor issues.

Wayne Yohn and J.W. Watkins finished the day in third place with an 18.15-pound, five-bass limit.

Jim Wirtz and Martin Waring finished in fourth place with 16.45 pounds, followed by Scott Visker and Jimmy Tucker in fifth place with 14.75 pounds. Visker and Tucker’s bag was anchored by the day’s second big bass, a 6.70-pound kicker.

The Kissimmee Bass Series Senior’s Trail is scheduled to compete on the second Friday of each month, leading up to an end of season championship in June. The next event is scheduled for December 11th. More information can be found at www.facebook.com/KissimmeeBassSeries.
