A letter to the anglers

As many of you already know, this website was formed as a platform to highlight the successes of the grass roots tournament angler. The anglers who work 40+ hours a week to chase a dream, to fuel a passion, and who strive to be ambassadors of the sport we all love. But working the 40+ hour weeks and having other responsibilities will sometimes prevent us from spending time on the water. We sometimes have to take a step back from what we love to do, and work on what we need to do to keep our heads above water, so we can get back on the water again in the future.

My New Years Resolution was to keep this site updated with fresh content on a more regular basis than what I had been able to do in recent months. But for one reason or another, (mainly keeping bills paid), I’ve been unable to do that. This is a website for the working angler, maintained by a working angler. I’ve received many calls, emails, and text messages asking if the site was being shut down. I can assure you, it is not.

One feature of the website that has not lacked in fresh information is our Events Calendar, and our Event’s Editor, Ryan Hoover, is to thank for that. He has worked diligently on tracking down tournament information to list on the calendar, so you, the anglers, have an easy source to find a tournament near you, and have all the information in one place. I can’t thank him enough for the work he’s done.

There are a few tournament directors who have been excellent in providing photos, results, and event information after each tournament.  Scott Osinga of the Lake Worth Boynton Beach Bassmasters, and Darrin Ribbing of the Bay County Bass Club have been very timely in that regard. If you’re an angler who hasn’t seen coverage for your club’s tournament, let your director know to send in photos, results, and information on the event. It makes it much easier to provide coverage for you!

Many tournaments and news stories over the past month and a half have been missed, and for that, I apologize. I will continue to provide new stories, tips, and event coverage as best I can, and will continue to strive in doing so on a more regular basis. Even though it has kept me off the water more than I would like it to, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed providing coverage for the grass roots tournament angler. If you have any questions, have a story or tip you want to share with your fellow anglers, please let me know.

Tight Lines,

Brian Stahl
