Festivities for the International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades, better known as ICAST, kicks off today. What is ICAST? It’s the world’s largest sportfishing trade show. It is the premier showcase for the latest innovations in fishing gear, accessories, and apparel; and it’s taking place in Orlando.
Unlike other shows such as the Florida Sportsman and Bassmaster Classic Expo’s, ICAST is not open to the general public. Manufacturing companies use the show as a platform to launch new products. Retailers have an opportunity to stock up early on new items, and members of the media will have the opportunity to bring those products to life through whatever platform they choose.
The festivities begin today with the Inaugural ICAST Cup Tournament presented by FLW. Teams of professional anglers along with media representatives and other industry affiliates will go cast-for-cast on Lake Toho in the quest for the ICAST Cup. Following the 9:00 am weigh-in is ICAST on the Water presented by Fishing Tackle Retailer. ICAST on the Water gives registered buyers and media representatives a first look at some of the new products being unveiled and allows for some hands on demonstrations.
The New Product Showcase begins tonight as well. This is what all anglers look forward to reading, watching, and hearing about. Registered buyers and credentialed media will have the opportunity to vote on what they believe is the best new product in a particular category. Anglers following Facebook and Twitter feeds at home will get a first look at some really cool products to look forward to.
