Gonzalez, Terkoski add Classic win to TAOY title

The Bay Area Bassmasters capped off their 2015 season at Lake Okeechobee for their annual, end of season club classic November 14-15. 34 qualified teams launched from Roland Martin’s Marina, hoping for the right bites to put them at the top of the leaderboard.

The wind blew hard, resulting in many anglers struggling for bites. Though the conditions were tough, Team Angler of the Year winners Casey Gonzalez and Eugene Terkoski would solidify their title over the weekend. The duo weighed 33.04 pounds over two days of competition to win their third club classic in five years (2011, 2013, 2015).

After weighing a 13.04-pound, five-bass limit on day one to be in contention for the victory, they smashed an even 20.00-pound, five-bass limit on day two, vaulting them to the top spot in the standings. A 7.30-pound kicker anchored their day two bag, and won the team the Big Bass honor of the event.

Joe Hobson and Gary Ford led day one with 15.14 pounds, but ended the tournament with a second place finish, weighing a total of 26.86 pounds.

Rodney Yavorsky and Chuck Gomez finished in their place with 26.67 pounds, followed by Mike and Pam Hardy in fourth place with 26.23 pounds, and Steve and Ryan Mekdeci in fifth place with 26.08 pounds.

The Bay Area Bassmasters will begin their 2016 season at the Winter Haven Chain of Lakes, launching form Lake Shipp on January 9th. More information can be found at www.bayareabassmasters.com.
