Stephens-Frantz Triumphant in Punta Gorda

Land O’ Lakes, FL-The IFA Redfish Tour West Coast Division held its first event of the season March 8, 2014 out of Punta Gorda. Dave Stephens and George Frantz teamed up against 90 other teams to win the first event of 2014. Stephens and Frantz brought 2 redfish to the scales that weighed 15.20 pounds, 6.84 and 8.36 pounds respectively. They won a new, fully rigged Ranger powered by a Yamaha Outboard. Their 8.36-pound fish also landed them $500.00 for the events Big Fish.

Kris Howell and Brett Morris took 2^nd place. Their 2 fish weighed 7.80 and 6.86 pounds respectively, giving them a total of 14.66 pounds. They took home $6,361.00, $2,730.00 of which is thanks to them being participants in the Angler Advantage program.

Gary Miller and AJ Webber finished in 3^rd. They weighed 2 fish, 7.44 and 6.97 pounds respectively, giving them a 14.41-pound total and $2,270.00.

Fred Walker and Shawn Walker finished in 4^th place. Their 6.67 and 7.61 pound fish gave them a total of 14.28 pounds. Thanks to the $1,330.00 from the Anglers Advantage program, they won $2,693.00.

Rounding out the top 5 was the team of Jeremy Heimes and Travis Hancock. Their 7.25 and 7.03 pound fish also gave them a 14.28-pound total. According to IFA’s rules on ties, the tiebreaker goes to the team with the largest fish for the event. The Walker’s 7.61-pound fish gave them the advantage over Heimes and Hancock. They took home $909.00 for their efforts.
