Photo (LCSO): Austin Baskette (L) and brother Adam Baskette win the 10th Annual LCSO Bass Tournament
Charity bass tournaments are always a fun event to be a part of. Fishing while raising money for great causes helps boost moral amongst competitors, organizers, and beneficiaries alike. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office has held an event on the Harris Chain of Lakes for now the last decade. Funds raised by the Lake County Sheriff’s Charities, Inc. organization helps to raise funds to benefit another not-for-profit organization that directly benefits Lake County children. The 10th Annual event took out of Hickory Point on Saturday February 25th with a field of 122 teams.
Amongst those was the team of Austin Baskette & Adam Baskette, neither of which are strangers to the Harris Chain of Lakes. The Baskette brothers topped the 122 boat field with an astounding 30.62 pound, 5 bass limit to take home the win. Dennis Young & Ralph Long finished the day in second place with a 25.07 pound, 5 bass limit. Young and Long anchored their runner up bag with the event’s overall Big Bass, an 8.88 pound TrophyCatch. Ricky Teschendorf & Blake Mead took home a third place finish with a 24.44 pound, 5 bass limit. Rounding out the Top 5 were Cory Gibbs & Ricky Grant in fourth place with 19.14 pounds, followed by AJ Herrera & Alex Muniz in fifth place with 18.58 pounds. Gibbs and Grant also weighed the event’s 2nd Big Bass, an 8.84 pound TrophyCatch.
