Palatka, FL-169 teams came together on March 11th to compete in the 4th Annual Dreams Come True Bass Tournament on the St. John’s River to help raise funds for the Dreams Come True of Jacksonville organization. Dreams Come True is a locally based non-profit organization dedicated to granting the dreams of children with life-threatening illnesses and have done so since 1984. The organization is not affiliated with any national wish-granting charities and 100% of all donations go toward fulfilling dreams, unless otherwise directed by the donor. Since 1984, Dreams Come True has fulfilled the dreams of more than 4,300 children in North Florida and South Georgia.
Ronnie Council and Jimmy Drury topped the 338 angler field to win the 4th annual event with a 33.32 pound 5 bass limit. Council and Drury anchored their bag with an 8.42 pound TrophyCatch to secure the win and $7,500.00 first place prize.
Corey Waters and Brayden Robinson took home a second place finish with a 30.86 pound, 5 bass limit. Waters and Robinson anchored their bag with the 2nd Big Bass of the event, an 8.52 pound TrophyCatch.
Third place went to the team of Austin Black and Wyatt Kinney, who weighed a 23.39 pound, 5 bass limit.
Rounding out the Top 5 teams were David Castleberry & Darryl Bidzeak with 23.11 pounds in fourth place, followed by Kevin Duncan and Austin Duncan in fifth place with 22.45 pounds.
Ken Loyless and Charlie Murphy took home overall Big Bass honors with an 8.68 pound TrophyCatch that also netted $1,500.00.
Walter Boney and Tyler DeRuiter caught the 3rd Big Bass overall with an 8.47 pound TrophyCatch.
The event raised $85,226.00 towards fulfilling dreams of terminally ill children throughout North Florida and South Georgia.
Dreams Come True continues to receive an average of 12-15 referrals weekly, and combined with postponed dreams, they now have more than 600 children who are dreaming. Events, such as the bass tournament, are vital in their ability to continue their promise to never deny an eligible child a dream because of financial hardships.
