McMillian DQ’d from FLW Event

Feb 5, 2014

FLW has announced the disqualification of Brandon McMillan for the Walmart FLW Tour season opener at Lake Okeechobee.

McMillan of Clewiston, Fla., was found to be in violation of rule five of the official FLW Tour rules and has been disqualified from participating in the Feb 6-9 FLW Tour event in Clewiston, Fla. FLW said in this case the rules violations were inadvertent. Rule five states that 30 days prior to the first practice day pros are only permitted on tournament waters alone or accompanied by a contestant in the tournament, a member of their immediate family, approved sponsor representatives, approved youth age 18 or younger or approved media representatives.

McMillian posted this on his Facebook page after hearing of the news:

“I’m disappointed to say I have been disqualified from the FLW Tour event on Okeechobee. I fished with my practice partner of 2 years who drove down from Tennessee thinking he was confirmed as a co-angler only to find out at registration that he was not confirmed in the tournament. I’m sorry to disappoint my friends and family.”

‘To be the best, you have to beat the best. And the best will not be competing.’ That’s the feeling among many anglers throughout the state of Florida after learning of McMillian’s disqualification.
