Simmons, Elman Win Outcasts Event at Istokpoga

Two events down, eight more to go before the Outcasts Bass Club will hold their end of season classic on Lake Okeechobee this coming November. The Central Florida based club held the second event of their season at Lake Istokpoga on February 28th, where 20 teams attempted to figure out how the bass were positioning amidst the ever changing Florida weather.

Despite the wind blown, rain soaked conditions, T.J. Simmons and Scott Elman were bale to put the pieces of the the puzzle together, as they weighed a 16.31-pound, 5 bass limit to win the derby in their first event of the season.

James and Jonathan Padgett were within striking distance, but ended with a second place finish after weighing a 14.56-pound limit. James Whitman and Johnny Fletcher finished in third place with a 14.32-pound total. Fourth place went to John Catlin and Rick Bateman, as they weighed a 14.01-pound limit. The team earned the Big Bass award thanks to Bateman’s 7.32-pound bucketmouth (see the video below!). Rennie Gauvin and Kevin Wright nabbed the final spot in the Top 5, weighing a 13.89-pound bag.

Greg Remour and Doug Wilkerson maintained their Team of the Year lead with a 6th place finish at the event.

The Outcasts Bass Club will compete on March 28th, out of Southport Park, on Lake Toho. Anglers are confined within the shores of Lake Toho, and are not permitted to lock through to any of the lower lakes of the Kissimmee Chain. More information can be found on the Event Calendar.
