Stout Earns Win on Kissimmee, Lloyd takes Co-angler Title

The Lake Worth Boynton Beach Bassmasters launched from the south end of Lake Kissimmee, March 21st and 22nd, for one of the club’s multi-day events throughout the season. Hopes were high for the 18 anglers who competed over the weekend, and big bass seemed to be plenty, if the right stretch of grass could be found. Boater Bryan Carter found one of Kissimmee’s lunkers while pre-fishing the day prior to the first day of competition in a 9.93-pounder. Unfortunately for Carter, he wasn’t able to coax that fish into biting again during competition.

Wayne Lloyd holds up his 6.93-pounder on day 2

Steve Stout took the day one lead on the boater side, weighing a 13.90-pound bag. William Manning weighed a 13.45-pound total to finish the day in second place, less than half of a pound from the lead. Carter finished within striking distance as well, weighing a 13.13-pound bag on 4 fish to finish in third place. Carter also grabbed the day’s Big Bass honor with a 7.25-pounder.

Bill Wood led the co-anglers on the first day of competition. Wood’s 5 bass limit set the bar at 11.29 pounds. Mike Critchlow was the only other co-angler to boat a limit on day 1, weighing 7.56 pounds. Wayne Lloyd weighed 4.74 pounds to finish the day in third place.

Day two proved to be a little better for some anglers. Steve Stout backed up his day one leading bag with a 15.25-pound limit. A 7.32-pounder anchored his bag, and helped bring his two-day total to 29.15 pounds, more than enough to secure the win. Jim Stovall made a push up the leaderboard on day two, weighing a 13.24-pound limit. He would finish fourth overall. William Manning stayed consistent, weighing a 12.85-pound limit on the second day of the derby. Manning’s two-day total of 26.30 pounds earned a second place finish overall. Bryan Carter’s 10.04-pound limit on day two gave Carter a 23.17-pound total for the weekend, more than enough for a third place finish overall.

Wayne Lloyd made the biggest move on day two amongst the co-anglers. Lloyd weighed a 13.20-pound, 5 bass limit on the second day, anchored by a 6.93-pound kicker. Lloyd’s day two efforts propelled him to the top spot overall with a 17.94-puond total. Day one leader Bill Wood weighed a 6.02-pound limit on the final day of competition, bringing his weekend total to 17.31 pounds, and a second place finish overall. Mike Critchlow’s 4.78-pound day two bag helped earn a third place finish in the final standings with a 12.34-pound total.
