Thompson Claims Co-angler Title at St. John’s Regional

Fishing from the back of the boat as a co-angler can be tough, especially when competing in multi-day events. 134 co-anglers representing the Bama, Bull Dog, Choo Choo, and Gator divisions can resonate that statement after fishing in the Walmart BFL Regional on the St. John’s River Oct. 2-4.

Ernie Thompson of Anthony, FL was able to piece together a 34 lb., 6 oz. total over 3 days to win the co-angler title, a new Ranger Z518 powered by a 200HP outboard, and a birth to the 2015 BFL All-American. Thompson isn’t the only co-angler to qualify for one of the pinnacle events in the sport of bass fishing. The top 6 finishing co-anglers earned qualifying spots in the All-American.

Gant Conley of Adrian, GA finished in 2nd place, catching 33-02 over 3 days to win $750.00.

James Hatch of Gainesville, FL took the 3rd place spot, weighing in 32-11 over the 3-day span. Hatch won $550.00

Johnathan Semento of Okahumpka, FL finished in 4th place. Semento’s 21-14, 3-day total netted him $500.00

5th place went to Kenneth Hunnicutt of Jacksonville, FL. He won a $450.00 check thanks to his 21-03, 3 day total.

The final All-American qualifying spot went to James Sloan of Cooper City, FL. Over 3 days, Sloan weighed in 20-13 to win $400.00
