UCF’s Oliver and McKamey Win Okeechobee

University of Central Florida’s Kyle Oliver and Hunter McKamey brought a 5 bass, 20-13 limit to the scales to hold on to the lead, and secure the victory on Day 2 of the Carhartt College Southern B.A.S.S. Regional out of Lake Okeechobee. Their 2 day total of 39-12 was enough to hold off Jake Gipson and Charlie Hurst from the University of Alabama. Gipson and Hurst had a strong day 2, bringing 24-15 to the scales. Their tournament best limit propelled them to 2nd with a 2 day total of 38-6.

3 of the top 5 teams hailed from schools in the state of Florida.

Kyle Smith and Shelby Concon of the University of Florida jumped from 11th to 3rd on the final day. Their 5 best on day 2 weighed 20-11, giving them a 2 day total of 35-15.

John Ferguson and Wesley Wise of Polk State College jumped from 20th to 4th on the final day, weighing in 19-6. Their 2 day total of 33-1 tied John B. Davis and Payton McGinnis from the University of Alabama. The tie-breaker went to Polk State due to them having the heaviest single day catch between the two teams.

Gipson and Hurst weighed in an 8-7 bass to take the days Big Bass honors.
