Upchurch, Leal outlast summertime heat from Kissimmee Bass Series field

The Kissimmee Bass Series has become a favorite amongst Central Florida anglers. Each tournament is held on the fourth Sunday of each month at Camp Mack, the old Florida fish camp that sits along the shores of the Kissimmee River. The series held it’s sixth event of the season on June 28th, hosting 52 teams of anglers.

The top five teams were separated by mere ounces of one another. Richie Unchurch and Billy Leal topped the field with a 24.70-pound, five-bass limit. Wayne Yohn and J.W. Watkins finished in second place, weighing 23.40 pounds. Jerry High and Jay Hagood earned a third place finish with 23.30 pounds. Fourth place went to Bobby Wooten and Chad Stewart with 23.25 pounds, followed by Wesley Wise and Clayton Stokes in fifth place with 23.15 pounds.

Bobby Wooten and Chad Stewart weighed the Big Bass of the event, a 9.55-pound lunker. 2015 Bassmaster Classic qualifier Van Soles and Cecil Hock weighed an 8.75-pound TrophyCatch for the 2nd Big Bass prize.

The next event for the Kissimmee Bass Series is scheduled for July 26th.
