Xtreme Bass Series: Five down, four to go

Land O’ Lakes, FL- The summer leg of the 2023 season is here. With 5 events down, the divisional team of the year races are shaping up nicely. Summer months across Florida usually equate to a hot bite, but also hot air and water temps. Now is the time to ensure your catches are making it to the scales all alive. Remember to pack plenty of ice to add to your livewell throughout the day to keep the water cool and fresh. Reusable ice packs can go a long way in keeping those fish cool. Too often do anglers neglect proper hydration while spending a day on the water, so it’s also important to stay hydrated throughout the day. Heat stroke and dehydration can come on quickly when focusing on that next flip, next cast, and next catch. Keep these in mind during your next event.

There will be some changes for the Orange Lake division this summer. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has decided to not allow organizations the ability to pull tournament exemption permits from the dates of June 15th through September 15th for Orange Lake. This means teams will not be able to bring their 5 best bass to the scales. Effective for June, July, and August, the Orange Lake division will be moving to a 3 fish limit. One of those 3 fish must be less than 16 inches. No team shall bring a third fish to the scales that measures 16 inches or longer.
