34th Annual Wolfson Children’s Hospital Bass Tournament: Reeling in Support for a Worthy Cause

Palatka, FL-The excitement is mounting as anglers gear up for the 34th Annual Wolfson Children’s Hospital Bass Tournament week. This highly anticipated event brings together anglers from across the region, all united in their shared passion for fishing and their commitment to supporting the critical work of Wolfson Children’s Hospital.

A long-standing tradition, the Wolfson Children’s Hospital Bass Tournament has captured the hearts of fishing enthusiasts and philanthropists alike. The event promises a day of fierce competition, camaraderie, and most importantly, raising funds for a worthy cause. As teams set out onto the waters of the St. John’s River, they will not only be vying for the coveted title of Wolfson Children’s Hospital Bass Tournament Champions but also contributing to the betterment of children’s healthcare.

Organized by the dedicated team at Wolfson Children’s Hospital Foundation, this year’s tournament aims to surpass previous years’ achievements in fundraising and community engagement. With the generous support of sponsors, volunteers, and avid anglers, the event is poised to make a significant impact on the lives of countless young patients and their families.

The festivities kick off tomorrow with the Lads and Lasses event, which features teams of one male and one female angler. It can be a father/daughter team like Steve and Kiersten Bishop, the 2022 Lads and Lasses Champions, a mother/son, husband/wife, etc. The annual Thursday tournament helps get lady anglers more engaged and out on the water. Friday’s even will be the VIP and Friends, featuring teams of anglers who are heavily involved in fundraising activities throughout the year for Wolfson Children’s Hospital. Saturday is the main event where more than 300 teams are expected to launch at Palatka City Docks.

Since 1989, the Tournament has helped fund specialized treatments, lifesaving technology, and capital improvements at Wolfson Children’s. The Plant Facilities Department at Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville organized and launched the tournament as a vehicle to fund capital improvements and acquisition of advanced technology. From its inception, the Tournament has raised more than $6 million.

This year’s event is focused on funding life-saving equipment and technology in the C. Herman and Mary Virginia Terry Heart Institute at Wolfson Children’s Hospital.  All fundraising efforts will go towards achieving the goal of $500,000.00.

One of the ways you can donate is by purchasing a Chance to Win ticket for a new Bullet 21XRS/Mercury 250 Pro XS Package. Tickets are $20.00 each and are available online and on site during the week. The winning ticket will be drawn Saturday June 3rd at Wolfson Children’s Hospital.

Beyond the thrill of the competition, the 34th Annual Wolfson Children’s Hospital Bass Tournament serves as a reminder of the vital role that community support plays in advancing healthcare initiatives. The funds raised during this event will contribute to the hospital’s continued dedication to providing exceptional care to children in need, regardless of their ability to pay. Wolfson Children’s Hospital has long been a beacon of hope for families facing medical challenges, and this tournament provides an opportunity for individuals to come together and make a tangible difference in the lives of these young patients.
