Baker and Betts Top Tarpon

Bay Area Bassmasters is “the world’s largest B.A.S.S. Nation ‘buddy’ team tournament trail.” Based out of Tampa, FL this “bass fishing club is designed to provide a little something for anglers of all ages, with or without experience,’ and holds events on bodies of water across the state. The club began the 2nd half of their season on June 14th, fishing Lake Tarpon out of Anderson Park.

Jeff Baker and Darin Betts landed a 15.20-pound, 5 bass limit to beat the 33 other teams. A 4.45-pound kicker helped anchor their limit, and secure the win.

Dave Panno and Mike Blanchard finished 2nd with a 10.81-pound, 5 bass limit.

Tom Craighead and Tim Hibbs landed the 3rd spot with a 10.51-pound, 5 bass limit.

Rodney Yavorsky and Chuck Gomez’s 10.27-pound limit gave them a 4th place finish.

Carl Powers and Matthew Miller rounded out the top 5 with 5 bass weighing 9.49 pounds.

Chuck Pons and Mark Rees won the events Big Bass award, thanks to their 5.75-pound bass.

The next tournament for Bay Area Bassmasters is scheduled for July 12th on a Mystery Lake. The location will be announced at the club’s next meeting on July 8th at R.J. Wings and Things.
