Chance, Labaw win at Big O

The Crackerboys Bass Club went big this past weekend and took on the 730 square miles of Lake Okeechobee for their July event. Though it is the heat of the summer, the tournament also gave anglers a preview for their end of season classic being held at Roland and Mary Ann Martin’s Marina and Resort, October 17-18, 2015.

Doug Chance and Stephen Labaw will be hoping things don’t change much between now and mid-October. They topped 61 teams with a 27.01-pound, five-bass limit, winning the team’s second event in a row; (Labaw fished with an alternate at last month’s Harris event). Stephen Bishop and Dell Massie finished in second place as they weighed a 24.52-pound, five-bass limit. Brian Divito and Sean Wiggins boated a 23.59-pound, five-bass limit to finish in third place. Jesse Windsor and Donald Hare, Jr. finished in fourth place with a 22.26-pound, five-bass limit, followed by Rex and Judy Wilkerson in fifth place with a 21.80-pound, five-bass limit.

The Big Bass of the tournament was caught by the team of Jeff and Dana Crosby. Their lunker weighed 7.74 pounds, beating out the second Big Bass of the event, a 7.19-pound toad caught by Julian Mullis and Ray Daniels.

The Crackerboys Bass Club is a Florida State Team Championship registered organization. The Top 4 finishing teams in the Team of the Year race will be invited to the 2016 Florida State Team Championship, where teams of anglers from various organizations across the state, will have the opportunity to compete for a Blazer 595 Pro Elite powered by a 200 HP Mercury Pro XS. To compete in this club, you must have fished one of the first two events of the season.

Their next event is scheduled for August 22nd at Camp Mack on Lake Kissimmee.
