Fugate and Cranor Win Rat-L-Trap Open

Anglers fishing the inaugural Lake Toho Rat-L-Trap Open presented by Duckett Fishing and Mustad on Sunday, June 29th, were greeted with hot, muggy weather the morning of the event. 29 teams launched from Big Toho Marina ready to beat the heat, and ‘Trap’ some Kissimmee Chain lunkers.

The team of Bill Fugate and Darrell Cranor topped the field, weighing in a 19.54-pound, 5 bass limit. A 5.96-pound kicker anchored their bag, and helped them win $1000.00 for the event.

2nd Place team Joe Ventrello and Daniel Lanier

Joe Ventrello and Daniel Lanier teamed up to catch a 17.42-pound, 5 bass limit, landing them in 2nd place and a check for $600.00.

Eric Douglas and Mike Douglas netted a 3rd place finish, bringing a 16.07-pound, 5 bass limit to the scales, enough to win $500.00.

Rounding out the rest of the best were:

4th: Daren McDermott and Zack Frye, 5 bass, 16.00 pounds, $400.00

5th: Bruce Bozman and Travis Cato, 5 bass, 14.41 pounds, $250.00

6th: Lonnie O’Neal and David Cruise, 5 bass, 14.01 pounds, $150.00

7th: John Stahl and Sarah Stahl, 5 bass, 13.52 pounds, 2 Duckett rods

8th: Mitch Liss and Joe Moore, 5 bass, 11.56 pounds, 2 Duckett rods

9th: Peter Jannotti and Paul Naydeck, 5 bass, 10.52 pounds, 2 Duckett rods

10th: Skip Batton and Stacey Cook, 5 bass, 10.34 pounds, 2 Duckett rods

11th: John Durocher and Randy Futch, 5 bass, 10.06 pounds, 2 Duckett rods

Sarah Stahl holds up her Big Bass

Sarah Stahl weighed a 6.15-pound lunker that won the event’s Big Bass honor. She stated she caught the fish on a chrome/black, ½ ounce Rat-L-Trap, fishing in open water. Stahl won an additional $580.00 for Big Bass.
