Medlock’s ‘lock’ in win

The Xtreme Bass Series: Lake Istokpoga Division held their third event of the season on April 26th. 18 teams launched from Istokpoga Park searching for the bites that would set them atop the leaderboard, as well as valuable Team of the Year Points.

Brandon and Joe Medlock are well known throughout the fishing community for their talents on the water, as well as their popular Medlock Double Weed Guard Flipping Jigs. The father-son team is always a force to reckon with on Lake Istokpoga, and they proved that point by weighing a 23.62-pound, five bass limit to win the derby. Not only did they win, but they also earned the Big Bass award thanks to Joe’s 10.03-pound giant.

Gary Neimi and Bill Elliot had a strong showing for the day’s efforts. Niemi and Elliot weighed a 20.80-pound, five-bass limit to finish in second place. The duo anchored their bag with a 7.16-pound kicker. Donnie Bass and Mike Keyso finished in third place, weighing a 19.27-pound, five-bass limit. Eric Conant and Michael Foster helped to round out the Top 5 as they finished in fourth place, weighing a 16.65-pound bag. Brad Day and Cody Craig finished in fifth place, weighing a 16.45-pound bag.

With 9 events in each division, anglers competing in XBS events can qualify for the 2015 Championship at Lake Okeechobee, November 5-7, 2015.
