Meuret, Rabel tame wind for win

Lake Okeechobee is always a destination anglers to look forward to fishing. The famed lake can produce heavy limits at any given time, keeping anglers on their toes for a monster bass. However, due to its location, many Central Florida bass clubs only travel to the southern region of the state once a year. When the clubs do make the trip, they typically make it worth it by competing in multi-day events. The Outcasts Bass Club did so April 25th and 26th for the fourth event of the year, where 19 teams hunted for Trophy Catch quality fish. Like the rest of the state, anglers faced high winds throughout the competition.

Chris Meuret and Steve Rabel wouldn’t let mother nature affect their weekend on the water. They averaged just over 15-1/2 pounds per day to win the event. Meuret and Rabel weighed 31.12 pounds over two days of competition, anchoring their catch with a 6.66-pound kicker.

James and Jonathan Padgett finished the weekend with a second place finish, weighing 29.22 pounds.

Gary Cox and Steve Sapp finished in third place, weighing 26.47 pounds over two days, but weighed the largest bass of the event, a 6.95-pound kicker.

Matt Faneuf and Dustin Hurn weighed 25.09 pounds to finish in fourth place.

Greg Remor and Doug Wilkerson secured the final spot in the Top 5, weighing a 6.74-pounder to anchor their 24.30 pound, two-day total.

The Outcasts Bass Club will travel next to Lake Kissimmee for the fifth event of the year on May 23rd.
