Pearson, Crandon Win Two in a Row

Lake Toho and the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes is one of the most popular destinations in the country for anglers to try their luck at catching a monster largemouth bass. Central Florida anglers are fortunate enough in the fact that they need not travel very far to the famed fishery. On February 28th, the Crackerboys Bass Club set out from Southport Park on the South end of Lake Toho for their second event of 2015.

James Pearson and Jeff Crandon led off the season with a win at East Lake Toho, a lake that connects to Lake Toho via the St. Cloud Canal, but anglers are unable to travel between the two lakes via waterway due to a spillway dam that blocks travel. Keeping the winning trend alive, the duo weighed a 27.54-pound, 5 bass limit to secure the top spot on the leaderboard for the second time in as many events. Anchoring their limit was the 2nd Big Bass of the tournament, an 11.16-pound giant, that was caught casting around pads according to Crandon. Yes, you read that right, that fish was the second largest weighed on the day.

Tom Craighead and Bob Grosso took Big Bass honors with an 11.88-pound monster. That fish helped to anchor their 24.94-pound, 2nd place limit.

Team Ford finished just behind in third place. Their 24.22-pound limit was anchored by a 7.72-pound kicker.

Eric Conant and Michael Foster found 22.77 pounds of Kissimmee Chain largemouth to finish in fourth place.

Team Crosby grabbed the final spot in the Top 5 as they weighed a 20.95-pound limit. The Crosby’s limit was anchored by an 8.32-pound lunker.

The next tournament for the Crackerboys Bass Club is scheduled for March 28th on the St. Johns River. The event will be worth double the points towards the Team of the Year race. Membership is closed for the remainder of the 2015 season. More information can be found on the Event Calendar.
