Shirah, Webb Victorious at Suwannee

The Suwannee River Divison of the Xtreme Bass Series was running strong at the second event of the season on February 15th. With 31 teams launching form the Fanning Springs boat ramp, it was anyones derby to win.

At the closing of the scales, the leaderboard would show BJ Shirah and Tim Webb at the top of the list. The duo weighed in a 15.80-pound, 5 bass limit to earn the victory. A 6.94-pound kicker helped to solidify the win, as well as the Big Bass award, to earn the team $1440.00 for the day.

Gary Ward and Matt Cummings had a strong day on the water as well. They weighed a 15.10-pound limit to finish in second place, and collect $640.00.

Bob Delegal and Stacey Cowart won $440.00 for a third place finish, as they weighed a 9.70-pound limit.

Rounding out the Top 5 were:

4th: Michael Craft and Tanner Warner; 8.52 pounds; $220.00

5th: Travis King and Steven Gayheart; 8.18 pounds; $140.00

With 9 events in each division, anglers competing in XBS events can qualify for the 2015 Championship at Lake Okeechobee, November 5-7, 2015. At this years championship, qualifying anglers will have the opportunity to fish for a brand new Blazer 595 Pro Elite, powered by a 200 HP outboard. To qualify, anglers must fish 7 of the 9 events in one division, or 8 events total from all divisions combined. Teams who finish in the Top 4 of their division will also be invited to compete in the 2016 Florida State Team Championship, where teams of anglers from various organizations across the state, will have the opportunity to compete for another Blazer 595 Pro Elite powered by a 200 HP outboard.

The Suwannee River Division will launch from the boat ramp at Ellie Rays on March 15th for the 3rd event of the season. More information can be found on the Event Calendar.
