Malys Wins the Battle at the Blue

The Florida Trails Bassmasters held the 4th event of their season on Lake Blue Cypress on February 7th. 17 anglers prepared for a knock down, drag out fight as they showed up for the ‘Battle at the Blue’. And a battle it was, as anglers struggled throughout the day.

Mark Malys was able to dodge a few of the punches Blue Cypress was dealing out, as he won the tournament with a 5.71-pound, 3 bass bag. Dennis O’Byrne finished less than a half-pound behind in 2nd place, weighing a 5.28-pound, 3 bass bag. Jamie Gillespie rounded out the Top 3 with 2 fish weighing 4.62 pounds. One of Gillespie’s bass, a 2.46-pounder, was the largest bass weighed for the day.

Anglers can look for redemption at the ‘Johns Lake Jam,’ as the club competes at Johns Lake on March 7th. More information on this event can be found on the Event Calendar.
