Pearson, Crandon Jumpstart 2015 Season

The Crackerboys Bass Club kicked off their 2015 season on January 24th at East Lake Toho, as 72 teams set out to start the season at the top of the leaderboard. The club announced a few weeks ago that they plan to register for the 2016 Florida State Team Championship. Teams competing in the club this season will have to be at their best, as they try to finish the year as one of the Top 4 teams, in Team of the Year points, to be invited to the 2016 FSTC and compete for a brand new Blazer 595 Pro Elite powered by a 200 HP outboard.

East Lake Toho is typically a tough body of water to compete on. Anglers were greeted with seasonal post-frontal conditions, high winds and cooler air temperatures. With mother nature of no help on the tough lake, weights were sure to be low.

James Pearson and Jeff Crandon overcame those conditions as they put together a 12.44-pound, 5 bass limit to start the season out with a win. They anchored their winning bag with a 7.01-pounder, earning the duo Big Bass honors as well. The team of Swindle & Boyles finished in second place with an 11.95-pound limit, followed by the teams of Divito & Wiggins (11.68), Lee and Lee (11.04), and Winstead and Winstead (10.42) to round out the Top 5.

The team of Hoffman & Kendrick took the honors for 2nd Big Bass. Their runner-up bass weighed in at 5.97 pounds.

The Crackerboys Bass Club is scheduled to compete on February 28th at Lake Toho, launching from Southport Park. This event will be the last chance to compete in the club for the remainder of the season, as membership applications are denied after the second event of the season. Check out the Event Calendar for more details.
