It’s March Madness, and we’re not referring to college basketball. But, since everyones bracket has been busted anyways, now is your best chance at catching trophy class largemouth. We received word that in an event this past Sunday at Lake Kissimmee, there were 11 TrophyCatch quality bass weighed, with 3 of those lunkers weighing over 10 pounds! More on that to come in a later article though.

On March 7th, the Toho Marine Elite One Man Tour traveled south to Lake Okeechobee. Terry Frisenda had his own Big O slug fest as he weighed a 27.42-pound, 5 bass limit to earn the victory over 38 other anglers. The second Big Bass of the event, an 8.24-pound lunker, anchored his bag and set him apart from the rest of the field. Dean Harcourt finished in second place as he weighed a 20.38-pound limit. Chad Foster locked down a third place finish with a 19.78-pound limit. Don Eady landed the largest bass of the day, a 9.32-pound lunker. That bass earned Eady the overall Big Bass award, and helped his 19.44-pound limit for a fourth place finish. The Toho Marine Elite One Man Tour will travel back to the southern part of the state to compete at Lake Istokpoga on April 4th.

The Roland Martin Marine Center Tournament Series set out on Lake Okeechobee the same day as the Elite One Man. The first event of the 2015 season saw 78 boats launch from the Marina and Resort in Clewiston, Fla. to battle it out for a big pay day. Local favorite Jared McMillan and teammate Durand Locke busted a massive 34.34-pound, 5 bass limit and crushed the field en route to a $4,350.00 check. Gerry Broussaue and legendary bass angler Roland Martin teamed up for a 24.79-pound limit as they finished in second place. Terry Oliver and Ricky Tortuna secured the final spot in the Top 3 with a 23.83-pound limit. The next event in the series is scheduled for May 2nd.

The Xtreme Bass Series: Rodman Division set out on the reservoir on March 7th for the second event of their season. Lawrence Cook and Bobby Allen topped the 18 boat field as they weighed a 19.45-pound, 5 bass limit. Jerry and Jason Gutierrez finished in second place, catching an 18.58-pound limit. Johnny Key and Justin Bennett followed close behind with an 18.06-pound bag, good enough for a third place finish. Billy and Andrew Bowen earned the Big Bass award for their 6.39-pound kicker. The third event in the division is scheduled for April 4th.
